verbs, the “not” adverb, natural and inverted word order, coordinate conjunctions, and compound
sentences. There will not be a Shurley English test this week.

Writing (Mrs. Isaminger):
This week, the students will work on incorporating similes and metaphors into their writing.

Bible (Miss Reech)
MV:John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
word was God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen
his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and
truth.” This week’s Bible lesson is about Jesus coming to earth as man and being a perfect
example of a servant. We will discuss God incarnate and what it means to empathize with
someone. Our Bible test will be Friday, January 10.

Spelling (Miss Reech)
10 words will be given Monday and Tuesday. Students received instructions on how to
complete homework for Monday and Tuesday located in their Reech folder. 7 words will
be used each night. On Wednesday we will take a practice test. If students make a
100 A+, they do not have to take the test on Thursday. Our test on all 21 words will be
on Thursday.

Social Studies (Miss Reech)
We are back in our blue Social Studies textbook. Students will define vocabulary for
Chapter 14 and begin learning about our government and how it works. Our vocabulary
test will be the following week.

Science (Mrs. Jaques)
We will continue our unit on energy and heat transfer. The students will identify
different types of waves,  how waves travel, and materials in which some waves may
not be able to travel through.

Math (Mrs. Jaques)
We will start Chapter 13, and the students will learn the process of long division with
remainders.  The Chapter 13 test will be on Friday, January 10. On Wednesday, January
