Announcements:
Picture Day - Individual picture day is Tuesday, September 17. Your child will simply wear their daily uniform on this day.
Innovation Night - Join us for a great night of family fun at Lower School Innovation Night on September 19! Hosted by the Technology Center, Innovation Night offers lots of cool, hands-on Innovation activities for Dunham students (PK-4th grade) and their parents. It also gives parents a glimpse of the exploration, collaboration and problem-solving that happens every day in our Lower School Innovation Lab.
5:00-6:30 pm
No need to worry about dinner. Food trucks will be on hand, offering delicious food for the entire family.
6:30-8:00 pm
All kinds of Innovation fun with interactive games & activities, including a blow-up planetarium for PK3 through 4th grade students and parents to enjoy together.
Pep Rally - Friday, September 20 2:45-3:05 p.m. - Our first pep rally will be held on Friday, September 20 . The cheerleaders will be throwing spirit sticks filled with candy. Only grades 1- 4 attend the pep rallies. This year, the pep rally time has changed from 2:45-3:05. If you want to take your child from the gym after the pep rally, you need to check them child out in the LS Office by 2:30 and obtain a pep rally slip to give to me, letting me know your child will leave from the gym with the you.

Please send a set of earbuds for your child to use this year with their computers. They will use
them during class when all of the students are working at once. They will keep their earbuds in

Reading (Mrs. Isaminger):
This week, the students will review reading skills learned from “Stormalong” and “Hoderi the
Fisherman” in the Journeys text (Lesson 5). The Journeys text can be accessed online through
Think Central. Your child’s Think Central login information can be found in the front of his or
her planner. There will be a reading test over “Stormalong” and “Hoderi the Fisherman” on
Wednesday, September 18th. We will also begin reading our first novel, Frindle, towards the end
of this week. There will not be a Wordly Wise lesson or test this week.

This week, the students will finish working on writing a personal narrative. The students will also

MV: Deuteronomy 31: 8 ”Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified
because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake
you.” We will begin learning about the attributes of God, and that God is omnipresent,

Students received their word list on Friday. They should have instructions on how to
complete homework for Monday and Tuesday stapled to the front of their spelling
notebook. 7 words will be used each night. There will be a practice test on Wednesday.
If the students receive a 100 A+, they will not need to take the test on Thursday.

Social Studies (Miss Reech)
We are beginning our unit on Landforms. Students have defined their ten vocabulary
words. We will have our second Mystery Skype this week! Students should also be working
on their landform projects. The guidelines went home on Thursday of last week. The girls
will have their projects due Wednesday, October 3. The boys will have their projects
due Thursday, October 4.

Next week, we will continue our unit on climate. The students will create their weather
journals and begin collecting data on their chosen city. The students will also learn about
the different climate zones and how a city’s location affects its climate.

and equations with variables. They will identify and use the properties of addition.
The fourth graders will also figure out the pattern of input/output tables and express
the rule using equations with variables. On Thursday, September 19, we will have our
Chapter 4 test. On Wednesday, September 18, the students will have a timed
basic-fact addition test. They may practice at the following website:
